KARACHI, May 29: A division bench of the Sindh High Court on Wednesday dismissed 16 identical petitions filed by candidates for admission to medical colleges of Sindh.

They had claimed that various irregularities had been committed in the entrance test for medical colleges, which were conducted by the IBA.

The bench comprised Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Zia Pervez.

The governor’s inspection team after enquiry acknowledged gross irregularities and IBA itself lodged an FIR against its employees. A case is pending in the matter.

The counsel was seeking provisional admission of his clients to the medical colleges.

Meanwhile, Justice S. A. Rabbani of the SHC ordered fixing of a criminal miscellaneous application filed by a former advisor before a division bench of SHC, seeking quashment of a corruption case against him.

The bench was hearing an application filed by Munawwar Ali Bhutt, a former advisor to Sindh Chief Minister, under section 561 A read with section 265 K of Cr.P.C. seeking quashment of a corruption case against him.

When the matter came up for hearing, provincial law officer submitted a statement along with an order by Chairman NAB transferring the case to Accountability Court IV, Karachi.

It was his contention that only an appellate bench for accountability courts can hear any application or else connected to the matter.

Barrister Kamal Azfar requested the court that in the circumstances, this application may be treated for the same purpose.

The bench consequently ordered to fix the application before the appellate bench for accountability courts.
