MIRPURKHAS, Feb 17: The senior surveillance officer of the World Health Organization, Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, has said that six cases of polio have been confirmed in Mirpurkhas and Umerkot districts.
According to details, four cases were detected in Umerkot, one in Pithoro and two each in Kunri and Digri talukas. He said samples of these cases had been sent for laboratory tests. A handout issued here on Thursday said the report of two polio cases remained negative.
KILLED: A taxi driver was killed and another person was injured when a taxi overturned near the 78-Mori on the Umerkot-Mirpurkhas road on Wednesday. Khamiso, 30, died and Sattar Baloch sustained serious injuries when the taxi went out of driver's control and overturned. The body and the injured were taken to the civil hospital.
HIJACKED: An official of the education works department was deprived of his motorbike, cash and cell telephone by four gunmen near the Gama stadium on Wednesday. Clerk Vasdev was on his way to home on motorbike (MPA-1108) when gunmen hijacked his bike.
