Published February 14, 2005

KARACHI, Feb 13: On the directives of Provincial Health Adviser Faisal Malik, Civil Hospital's Medical Superintendent Prof Said Qureishi has cancelled leaves of all doctors and directed them to immediately report at the hospital.

According to a handout of the Sindh Health Department, Faisal Malik during his visit to the hospital on Friday morning had urged the MS to ensure round-the-clock presence of doctors as well as paramedics during Muharram.

He had also directed that adequate arrangement of drugs and other relevant items including first aid be made necessarily available to meet any emergency situation.

While seeking reactivation of the hospital ambulance service on 24-hour basis, the adviser was informed by the MS that all encroachments around the hospital hampering smooth movement of the ambulances had already been removed.

Prof Qureishi assured that the hospital was well prepared to meet the load of patients as well as those in need of first aid to medical support at any point of time.

Patients present on the occasion appreciated the measures adopted by the provincial health department to improve the working of the city's major tertiary care hospital. -APP
