LAHORE, Feb 11:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has instructed pace man Shoaib Akhtar to play a match in the ongoing Patron's Trophy to show his physical fitness, stated PCB director cricket operations Saleem Altaf on Friday.

When asked if Shoaib would be playing for his departmental team KRL in the next match of the trophy, Saleem, however, was uncertain saying the board had advised him and now it was up to the bowler to take a decision.

He said that national selection committee was urging the board to convey the availability of the players for the Indian tour and the process to examine the players's fitness level was the top priority of the board.

He said that another seamer Mohammad Khalil would appear before a medical expert for his shoulder injury on Saturday. Pace man Mohammad Sami has already been given a fitness certificate by the doctors. But Saleem said that Shabbir Ahmed would take about 20 days more to recover. The director said that national selection committee would meet in Lahore on Feb 18 to finalise the team for the Indian tour.
