KHAAR, Feb 11: A member of Agency Council and chief of the Tribal Peace Committee was killed while two others were injured in a powerful bomb explosion here on Wednesday night.

Official sources told Dawn that a remote-controlled device had been fixed near the main gate of the residence of Mian Shahjehan, the chief of the Tribal Peace Committee in Khaar.

When he was coming back to his home after offering Isha prayers, the remote-controlled bomb exploded, fatally wounding Mian Shahjehan, his nephew Samiullah Jan and Sultan, retired subedar of Bajaur Levies Force.

The three injured were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital, where Mian Shahjehan died. More than a dozen houses were damaged by the blast. Funeral prayer of Mr Shahjehan was offered on Thursday and later he was buried in his ancestral graveyard at Utmankhel Chengai.
