QUETTA, Feb 4: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) took out a procession after Friday prayers to condemn the deletion of the religion's column from the passport , President Gen Pervez Musharraf's refusal to leave his military post and arrest of ulema by Quetta police.

The protesters gathered in front of the Jamia Masjid and marched on different roads holding banners and chanting slogans against the United States for invading Afghanistan and Iraq.

The procession culminated at the Manan Chowk where leaders of the party, including National Assembly member Maulana Noor Mohammad and former minister Maulana Allah dad Khairkhwa, addressed the protesters.

Maulana Noor Mohammad, the acting provincial chief of the JUI-F, held army general responsible for the political crisis, price hike and lawlessness in the country and accused them of creating hurdles in the enforcement of Islam. He said interference by the military establishment has caused hatred between Punjab and other provinces.
