HYDERABAD, Feb 3: A joint left front was formed at a meeting on Wednesday under the umbrella of the Communist Party of Pakistan. The CPP, Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party and the Labour Party of Pakistan joined the front in the first phase.

The meeting formed various committees for organizational work in different cities. According to a CPP press release, other parties would join the front in the second phase and devise a common strategy.

The front decided to distribute handbills on the issue of Balochistan and organize a conference. It was decided that the people of Balochistan would not be left at the mercy of tanks and generals. CPP leader Imdad Qazi called upon the downtrodden people of the country to support the Baloch movement for rights.

Mr Qazi said Balochistan had become fighting ground for imperialists and Pakistani generals and stressed the need for converting it into people's fight for rights A resolution was also adopted in the meeting, calling for withdrawal of army from Balochistan. It said only four subjects should be controlled by the centre whereas the rest should be handed over to provinces and the concurrent list should be abolished.
