SUKKUR, Feb 3: Police on Thursday registered an FIR against 800 people for attacking the Yaroo Lund police station on Wednesday.

SHO Asghar Kolachi stated in the FIR that the accused had broken the police station lockup, snatched arms from police, pelted a police mobile with stones and tried to kill him. He said he and three other police had been injured in the incident.

Those nominated in the FIR included Ali Hassan Lund, Qadeer Lund, Allah Ditto, Atta Mohammad, Abdul Malik, Faiz Mohammad, Mukhtiar and Mir Hassan. Mirpur Mathelo TPO Yar Mohammad Rind has taken the charge of the police station but no inquiry has been ordered so far.

The people had attacked the police station to protest against the alleged involvement of police authorities in the killing of seven members of a family. Tension prevail in the area.

DEMONSTRATION: A large number of people held a protest demonstration and staged a sit-in on the National Highway near the Dakhan bus stop in Shikarpur on Thursday. The protesting villagers were carrying the body of one Abdul Ghani, who was shot dead by a group of people in the Budo Sharif village, Dakhan police station jurisdiction, on Wednesday night.
