KHAIRPUR, Jan 31: Hesco on Sunday disconnected power supply to 20 villages in the Kotdiji area and 15 villages in Pir-Jo-Goth for non-payment of bills.

The Kotdiji villages include Bago Dero, Kando Dahar, Noor Bozdar, Jalalani, Baqir Bozdar, Deedar Dahar, Mir Mohammad Kalhoro and Ratal Shaheed. Power supply to Wario Phulpoto, Danwero, Sanhero, Yar Mohammad Mari, Talo Bhando, Ramzan Maitlo, Amir Bux Phulpoto and other villages in Pir-Jo-Goth was disconnected.

Meanwhile, villagers held a protest demonstration against Hesco in Bozdar Wada on Monday. They said they had been paying their power bills but Hesco officials cut their electricity connections. They also showed their paid bills to journalists.

FARMERS: Farmers of Sanhro and Mohabbat Wahs, fed by the Mirwah Canal, held a protest demonstration and staged a sit-in in Kotdiji for the second consecutive day on Monday against water shortage. Talking to journalists, they said hundreds of acres of lands at tail end of the channels had turned barren due to the shortage of water.

ROBBERY: Seven armed men deprived activists of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement, who were returning to their villages after participating in a procession in Sukkur, of a wagon on Sunday night.

The bandits intercepted the wagon on the Khuhra Kamal Dero link road in Shaheedan-Jo-Dhoro and took the 17 passengers to a kutcha area near Kamal Dero. The hostages were set free after three hours.
