PESHAWAR: PSF demo against arrest

Published January 29, 2005

PESHAWAR, Jan 28: The Pukhtun Students Federation on Friday staged a demonstration to condemn the arrest of their two leaders by the campus (University of Peshawar) police on sedition charges.

The police had registered the sedition case against PPP leaders Sardar Ahmed Yousufzai and Javed Khan Yousufzai for their alleged involvement in anti-state activities and for setting the national flag on fire. Later, police sealed the FIR.

A small group of PSF workers set old tyres on fire in front of the Peshawar Press Club and raised slogans against the police action. They demanded immediate release of their leaders. The protesters denied that any of their colleagues had burnt the flag.
