ISLAMABAD, Jan 27: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that the Bugti tribe has not forwarded any demand to the federal government.

Talking to reporters at a ceremony held at the F-9 Park here on Thursday, the minister said the overall law and order situation in Balochistan was improving.

He said the patriotic people of Balochistan wanted development of their province. "The government is ready to talk to all leaders to resolve all issues and remove the prevailing sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan," he said.

"The ongoing dialogue process with Baloch leaders would continue to seek a solution to the problem," he said. Mr Sherpao said the Balochistan issue would be solved in a manner which would be beneficial to the people of Balochistan as well as in the interest of the country.

The minister said the government was paying special attention to development of Balochistan and development projects worth over Rs1.3 billion had been launched, while more projects were in the pipeline.

Mr Sherpao said the government wanted to allay fears and misgivings of the people of Balochistan and bring the province on a par with developed areas of the country.

Replying to a question about deployment of security forces in Sui, Mr Sherpao said the provincial government had requested the federal government to provide security to sensitive installations there.
