QUETTA, Jan 26: Provincial Police Officer Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob has said that all officials of defence service guards (DSGs) and Pakistan Petroleum Ltd in Sui would be interrogated and an identity parade would be held to identify the accused involved in the sexual assault on a lady doctor.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he pleaded that Nawab Akbar Bugti, his representative or other tribal elders of the Bugti tribe should participate in the investigation to ensure transparency of the process.

The PPO said President Gen Pervez Musharraf had taken serious note of the rape incident and had stressed that no hindrance would be tolerated in the lady doctor's case and guilty be severely punished.

He said if the lady doctor wanted to come to Sui she would be given full protection. Otherwise, the investigation process could be arranged for her in Karachi. Mr Yaqoob said three men were charged with involvement in the incident and a report had been filed against them.

The DNA tests of the suspects would be carried out in order to compare the report of the tests on a scientific basis. About delay in the investigation, he said wrong statements of local officials of Sui PPL, law and order problem arising out of rocket firings, Eid holidays and unwillingness of the doctor to file report were reasons which caused delay in investigation.
