PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The Pakistan People's Party has plan to observe on Feb 8 the 30th death anniversary of Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao, a founding member of the party who was killed in a bomb explosion in 1975 in the Peshawar University.

A PPP general body meeting, presided over by provincial chief Pevez Khattak, discussed arrangements for the anniversary and resolved to organize a public meeting in the native town of the late leader.

The PPP organizations throughout the province had been assigned the task of bringing a large number of people to the anniversary programme. Mr Khattak said the public meeting would bring a positive change in the politics of the province.

He paid tributes to Hayat Sherpao, saying that he sacrificed his life for the cause of the downtrodden. The late leader, he said, was the voice of poor masses and had struggled for their rights. He directed all party district organizations and other party forums to start brisk preparation for the anniversary.

PPP provincial general secretary MPA Sikandar Hayat Sherpao asked the workers to work hard to bring people to the public meeting. Through a resolution, the general body reposed full confidence in the leadership of Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and Pervez Khattak.
