KARACHI, Jan 18: The acting city nazim, Tariq Hassan, has instructed that work on the Business Recorder Road be completed before its schedule so that area citizens could be facilitated.

He was inspecting carpeting of the road on Tuesday. The acting city nazim expressed satisfaction over the pace of work. Mr Hassan was told that the road from Nazimabad Chowrangi to Rizvia Society would be completed soon and opened for traffic before Eid. The remaining road would be completed by Feb 17.

He was also told that the project's scheduled completion date was March 15; work on the road was initiated on Dec 23 last. To ensure better flow of vehicular traffic, the road was being widened on both sides, he was further told.

The acting city nazim, on the occasion, also met area people and sought their suggestions about uplift work. Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui also visited various city areas to take a view of the traffic jams and dug up roads, particularly Jahangir Road leading from Tin Hatti to Guru Mander.

He directed EDO Works, Syed Sarfaraz Shah to complete the construction work of all main city roads on priority as it was causing traffic disruption all over the city. He said the citizens were facing traffic problems, traffic jams and were losing millions of litres of fuel daily.

Rauf Siddiqui said that people were also facing the problems of dust, smoke causing severe environmental problems apart from cough, allergy and sinus problems. -PPI/APP
