HYDERABAD, Jan 9: Residents of Pathan Goth, Giddu Naka, including women and children, held a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday to protest against collapse of sewerage system in the city, especially in their area.

Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Baloch and other leaders of the Citizens' Awami Forum said that the sewerage system in the city had collapsed but Rs500 million of the development package announced by a former provincial governor for this purpose were not being released.

They said that the government had released Rs100 million, just an eyewash, but had failed to appoint a project director. They added that in the absence of a project director, the amount would lapse.

They warned that if the project director was not immediately appointed, they would organize a series of protest demonstrations and hunger strikes. They also called upon the MPAs, MNAs and nazims belonging to the city to raise voice on the issue.
