PROTEST: Employees of the district council and their children staged a sit-in for the 14th consecutive day to protest against allotment of the council's shops to union council nazims and others.
They claimed that they had tenancy rights over the shops, which had been in their possession since long and were the source of their livelihood. The allotments were made through the back door, they alleged. They demanded that the authorities cancel the allotments/leases forthwith.
