LAHORE, Jan 6: Advocate M.D.Tahir on Thursday filed another writ petition challenging the fresh raise in the salaries of federal ministers, ministers of state and federal advisors.

It sought of court to declare the increase as unlawful, unfair and misuse of the public money. The lawyer-petitioner also requested the court to issue a writ against the federal government that the monthly salary of a federal minister be fixed at Rs10,000.

He submitted that the federal government had increased their salary in 2003 raising it to a monthly Rs40,000, in addition to a number of other fringe benefits that were more than the salary.

While no financial relief was provided to the people, who were leading a miserable life in the wake of alarming price hike, he contended. The lawyer also filed a petition challenging the salary rise of ministers in 2003. It was dismissed during the period he was hospitalized, he said.
