PESHAWAR, Jan 3: The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (Sparc) has established a fund to assist tsunami victims.

The proceeds would be shared with the National Child Protection Authority of Sri Lanka which was actively involved in the relief efforts associated with child victims, said a Sparc press release issued here on Monday.

The NGO's staff has urged the public and private officials to donate for tsunami victims. However, the NGO staff members have donated a part of their salary to the fund for tsunami victims. The NGO has urged the United Nations secretary general to ask all the UN employees to donate their one week salary to help the victims.

The same request of deducting three days salary of government officials and officers of armed forces was also made to the President Gen Pervez Mushrraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

It has also asked the president to send contingents of military to Indonesia and Sri Lanka to help in relief work. The NGO working for the rights of children has also asked all the mineral water bottling plant owners to send water bottles to the areas hit by the disaster.
