NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Dec 27: A people's poet and an expert on the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, Hafiz Mohammad Bukhsh Khaskheli, died in New Jatoi village on Saturday after suffering from throat cancer for more than a year. He was over 60.

He leaves behind two sons, Manzoor Hussain and Mazhar Hussain, and three daughters. He was buried in the village graveyard on Sunday and his Soyem was observed on Monday. New Jatoi remained closed to mourn his death.

The Hafiz was author of two anthologies, Marjul Bahrain and Meeras-i-Hafiz, and an autobiography but none of them had been published. His poem on the water crisis prevailing in Sindh, Pani tey aj pani theendo, had made him popular across the water-starved province.
