HARIPUR: Seized drugs set ablaze

HARIPUR, Dec 22: The Haripur police administration and officials of the district judiciary set ablaze a large quantity of narcotics here on Wednesday evening.

The ceremony was organize by the police administration at the central jail ground and it was attended by District and Sessions judge Sahibzada Khurshid Ahmad Khatak, additional district judge Zamarud Shah, civil judge-cum-judicial magistrate Mohammad Asim Khan, district police officer Raja Mohammad Naseer, officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force and other government departments.

Before setting the seized contraband on fire, civil judge Asim Khan formally weighed the drugs and pointed out certain disparities in lists provided to him. According to figures provided by police, the administration set ablaze 461 kilograms of hashish, 12 kilograms of heroin and 1619 bottles of country liquor which had been seized during the last 12 months.
