Railways fares up by 5pc

LAHORE, Dec 20: Pakistan Railways on Monday increased fares by 5 per cent with effect from Dec 21. However, according to a PR announcement, the increase will not be applicable to travelling distance up to 100km.

Tickets sold out before Dec 21 will be exempted from the hike. The PR also increased the freight charges by 5 per cent on the transportation through hi-speed diesel engines. The subsidy on the freight charges for seven commodities has been reduced by 2pc to 7pc. -APP
