AMMAN, Dec 19: Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's defence team reviewed on Sunday how to move ahead with their case after they gained access to their client this week for the first time since his arrest a year ago, lawyers said.

"We coordinated tactics to defend president Hussein after our lawyer's meeting with him. But we don't recognize the legitimacy of any trial being prepared by a tribunal that has no legal grounds," Jordanian lawyer Ziad Khasawneh and spokesman for the team told Reuters.

Defence team sources said the Iraqi lawyer who met Saddam on Thursday for the first time since his arrest briefed them on his four-hour session with the him. The legal team has not identified the lawyer so far for security reasons, but he is expected to appear at a news conference late Sunday to describe his meeting.
