ISLAMABAD, Dec 16: The People's Party Parliamentarians has called for instituting a judicial inquiry into what it termed threats to the life of Asif Zardari.

A press release issued here on Thursday said that leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro had earlier written a letter to Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim protesting over his statements implying that his (Mr Zardari's) life was threatened by either the government or the PPP (Shaheed Bhutto group). Mr Khuhro urged the Sindh government to provide security to Mr Zardari.

"It is important for you to provide security to Mr Zardari. A refusal to do so would indicate a desire to abet the murder conspiracy about which you have claimed foreknowledge through press statements," Mr Khuhro wrote to the chief minister.
