Muttahida puts off all-parties moot

KARACHI, Dec 16: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has postponed its all-parties conference scheduled for Dec 20, saying the next date will be announced in the next few weeks.

The MQM Coordination Committee, which met in an emergency session on Thursday, reviewed the report from its legislators' team which was assigned to extend invitation for the APC to leaders of political parties.

The team stated that most of the leaders mentioned their prior engagements and expressed their non-availability for the APC. "Keeping in view the report, the meeting decided to put off the conference," said a press release.

The APC, aimed at promoting better understanding and harmony in the country, would draw a code of conduct for political parties for maintaining a pleasant environment despite difference of opinion among them, the release added.
