KARACHI, Dec 9: Police arrested two alleged kidnappers and recovered a child from their captivity in Chakiwara on Thursday.

Police said that Hasan Jawed, 3, was kidnapped outside his home in Iqbal Centre in Mirza Adam Market at around 1:30pm on Thursday. Following the kidnapping, his father Jawed received a ransom call of Rs200,000 and the deal was struck at Rs50,000.

Jawed took the ransom amount to the place as directed by the kidnappers, but, did not find anyone there and returned home. He received another call from kidnappers, who asked him to bring the amount to a house in Chakiwara.

He narrated the whole incident to the police, who followed him to the specific house. Jawed entered the house, where the kidnappers got the amount of Rs50,000 from him, but refused to release the child. Subsequently, one of the kidnappers, Shahzad, came out of the house along with the child and tried to flee when police caught him and recovered the child.

Soon afterwards, the police raided the house and found another kidnapper, Shahid. However, their accomplice, Zahid, had already escaped. Police found Rs5,000 from Shehzad while Rs45,000 had been taken away by Zahid.

Police said that Zahid was a former employee of Jawed, who had dismissed him on charges of theft. Police suspected that he took revenge and kidnapped the son of his former employer. According to police, Shahid was the brother of Zahid and was recently released on bail.
