GHALLANAI, Dec 8: Four people allegedly involved in a case of robbery and murder were handed over to the authorities at two jirgas here on Tuesday.

It is said that about a dozen armed bandits entered a house in Bhai Kor Michani area two weeks ago with the intention of robbery. When inmates of the house tried to resist they opened fire, killing four of them on the spot.

Taj Rehman, one of the alleged assailants, who was injured in the incident, was later arrested from a hospital in Peshawar. During interrogation he revealed the names of his 12 accomplices.

A tribal lashkar later gave an ultimatum to the 12 accused to surrender to the administration. In response to the ultimatum, two separate jirgas of the Dadukhel and Qasimkhel branches of the Tarugzai tribe handed over four accused to Assistant Political Agent Yakkaghund Shahab Ali.

The Dadukhel jirga handed over Hashim Taj and Raees, while the Qasimkhel jirga surrendered Abdullah and Deenak. A 24-hour deadline has also been set for the rest of the accused to surrender to the authorities, otherwise the authorities would launch an operation and demolish their houses.
