LAHORE, Dec 7: The first India-Pakistan co-production will be screened in Indian cinemas by the end of January or early February next year, subject to censorship.

"We hope the Pakistani authorities will also allow exhibition of 'Nazar' here," Indian film director Mahesh Bhat told newsmen at the meet-the-press programme of the Lahore Press Club on Tuesday.

Co-productions, he said, would be beneficial for the film industry of both the neighbouring countries. "Indian film industry has a very good infrastructure. We are technology-wise very sound. You have a lot of talented singers who gain worldwide popularity when they work with us. You don't have the talent to spot talent," he said.

Praising Gen Pervez Musharraf for his peace initiatives, Mr Bhat said the Indian prime minister had assured him (Mr Bhat) that New Delhi would not allow the process to derail.

Regarding vulgarity or nudity in his films, Mr Bhat said a censor board comprising women also scrutinized every film before its screening. Film star Meera said it was an honour for her to work with Mr Bhat. She said the time she spent in India was memorable.
