KARACHI, Dec 3: Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi inaugurated the operation theatre established at the PNS Shifa here on Friday.

With the addition of the new facility, the number of operation theatres at the navy hospital has risen to six.

According to an ISPR (Navy) release, the commander addressed the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest and said that PNS Shifa had always been a highly reputed hospital in the city. Over the years, he observed, PNS Shifa had emerged not only as a place for quality medical care but also as a training institute par excellence.

In his welcome address, Commandant PNS Shifa Surgeon Commodore Ahmed Rashid gave an overview of the performance and progress of the hospital. He said that the hospital had started functioning as a small unit but over the past 51 years, it became one of the finest medical institutions in the country.

After unveiling the plague of the operation theatre, the chief guest went round various sections of the facility and witnessed the sophisticated equipment. The ceremony was attended by a large number of naval officers, doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital. -APP
