SWABI, Nov 25: The Pakistan People's Party has announced that it will extend all-out support to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in its anti-government campaign to be launched next month.

Speaking at a party meeting here on Thursday, PPP provincial chief Rahim Dad Khan said the PPP was opposed to the Legal Framework Order and a president in uniform. The two points were common in the struggle of the PPP and the MMA, he added.

"We would participate in the movement for the restoration of democracy in the country. The president should shed the uniform according to the agreement reached with the MMA," he said.

He said the celebrations of Asif Ali Zardari's release would not make any negative impact on the anti-government drive as predicted by MMA chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed in a statement. Mr Zardari was released by the Supreme Court, which was being celebrated by the workers.

He welcomed the apex court's decision and said that it was an historic verdict and all democratic people appreciated it. "There was no need to worry about the celebration. Mr Zardari had spent more than eight years in jail and he was politically victimized," he said, adding that the PPP workers and leadership were proud of his struggle.

He brushed aside the allegation that Mr Zardari was released under a deal. He said the main objective of the PPP is to restore real democratic order in the country and this struggle would continue till the achieving the real democracy. He urged the workers to get ready for the next general election which would be held soon.
