SHIKARPUR: Jirga settles dispute

SHIKARPUR, Nov 22: A dispute between two groups of the Junejo and Kehar communities was settled at a jirga in the Kakepoto house here on Sunday under police security.

Provincial Minister Manzoor Panhwar acted as Ameen (judge) of the jirga while Federal Minister Ghous Bux Mahar, Shahnawaz Junejo, Jahangir Khan Kakepoto and Rizwan Kehar, representing the rival parties, as Mushirs (consultants).

After hearing both the parties and consulting the Mushirs, the Ameen announced a judgement. According to it, the Junejos will pay Rs1,550,000 compensation for the murders of four persons of the Kehar community and Rs310,000 for injuries to seven.

They will also pay Rs10,000 for the killing of a donkey and Rs13,500 for wheat taken away from the stocks of the Kehars. The Kehars will pay Rs1,350,000 compensation for four murders of the Junejo clansmen and Rs190,000 for injuring five.
