KARACHI, Nov 12: Justice Syed Zawwar Hussain Jaffery of the Sindh High Court admitted to bail before arrest on Friday a couple sought to be prosecuted for unlawful union.
Robina and Adam submitted through Jan Mohammad Khuro and Mumtaz Ali Rajput that they married of their will against the wishes of their rivals. Mohammad Irshad, claiming to be Robina's husband, lodged an FIR at the Kunri police station, Mirpurkhas, alleging that the couple was guilty of adultery under the Offence of Zina (Enforcement of Hudood) Ordinance, 1979.
The complainant claimed that Robina was lawfully married to her and that a second marriage could not be contracted during the subsistence of a valid earlier marriage.
The applicants said they were innocent but might be physically harmed at the behest of the complainant party if taken into police custody. The court admitted them to bail in the sum of Rs 100,000 each.
