ISLAMABAD, Nov 5: The tax authorities paid Rs24.368 billion refund/rebate to exporters during the first four months of the current fiscal year against Rs20.612 billion paid during the same period last year.

Official figures released here on Friday showed that the payment of sales tax refunds and customs rebate registered a tangible growth during the period under review over the same period last year.

The tax authorities paid Rs19.075 billion as sales tax refund to the exporters during the four months this year against Rs15.38 billion paid during the same period last year, indicating an increase of 15.38 per cent.

On the other hand, the payment of customs rebate to the exporters registered a growth of 1.16 per cent and stood at Rs5.293 billion during the July-Oct period of the current fiscal year against Rs5.232 billion during the same period last year.
