PESHAWAR, May 25: The government is very much interested in the development of FATA (Federally-Administered Tribal Areas) and has decided to spend Rs7.5 billion for removing its backwardness and to bring it at par with the settled areas.

This was stated by Brigadier Naeem during his visit to Kani Garam area in the South Waziristan Agency.

Brigadier Naeem was representing Corp Commander, Ali Mohammad Jan Orakzai who was scheduled to visit S.W Agency, but had to change his programme due to some engagements.

Talking to the people of Kani Garam, Brig Naeem said that Corp Commander had sent him to ascertain the problems of this area.

He also told them that the government would try to fulfil all their demands and the time was not away when all the basic problems of Kani Gram area would be resolved.

On the occasion, tribal elders, expressing gratitude for paying visit to their area, also held out assurance of their full support to the government in the hours of trial.

They also expressed satisfaction over the seven-point agenda of President Pervez Musharraf.—APP
