SUKKUR, Oct 12: Activists of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F held a demonstration at the Clock Tower Chowk here on Monday to protest against the murder of renowned religious scholar Mufti Mohammad Jameel Ahmed Khan and Maulana Nazeer Taunsvi as well as bomb blasts in Sialkot, Multan and Lahore.
Denouncing the terrorist activities, Maulana Abdul Haq Mahar and others said that since the government had failed miserably to provide protection to the people, therefore, it should resign immediately.
They said that such incidents, happening one after the other, indicated that terrorists were at large, but the government was doing nothing to contain such elements. They demanded that the government should arrest the real culprits involved in all such cases, from the killing of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai to Mufti Mohammad Jameel, as well as the bomb blasts.
SEMINAR: A seminar was held under the auspicious of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Mazdoor Federation, Ghotki district, on Monday, which was attended by representatives of various political, social and labour bodies.
Speaking on the occasion, STPMF central vice president Ali Hassan Chandio said that Sindh had been gifted with natural treasures, such as oil and gas, which outsiders had taken over, rendering the local people jobless.
Nusrat Hussain Channa said that according to law, 70 per cent of jobs should be provided to the local population, but here in Sindh, not even 30 per cent were being employed in local industries.
Sindh Hari Committee leader Comrade Mandhal Shar asserted that it was the need of the hour to struggle against such vested interests. Ghotki Trade Union chairman Abdul Fatah Samejo said that the district gave Rs13 billion a year towards tax, but the local youth remained jobless.
