PESHAWAR, Oct 10: The Pakistan chapter of the Pakistan-India People's Forum for Peace and Democracy on Sunday hailed the first-ever Afghan presidential election , stating that the election has proved that the people of Afghanistan wanted democracy and peace in their country.

A press release issued here on Sunday quoted the general secretary of the forum, Advocate Qaiser Khan, as saying that the Afghan people proved that they were for the ballot and not the bullet, adding that the recent years had shown that they had not accepted any of the decisions taken through the bullet.

Terming the people of Afghanistan civilized, peace loving and democracy loving, the forum's general secretary said that they had favoured democracy and elections the day they had registered for voting.
