ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday directed civil servants to work with commitment and dedication and execute government's policies for the benefit of masses.

Talking to senior civil servants here at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Mr Aziz said the government could not work successfully and perform its role effectively without committed civil servants.

He said the civil servants should come up to the challenges of the government and implement the policies for the welfare of the people. Referring to the importance of civil servants, the prime minister said they were a catalyst and facilitators of the government to improve quality of administration and governance.

He said civil servants were pillars of the government and they had to play an important role in the smooth and orderly function of the government to make the country a prosperous and welfare state.

He said there was a need to invest on the training of these officials to help them perform better. He directed the civil servants to fix goals and targets and then make sincere efforts to achieve them through hard work for the benefit of the people.

Mr Aziz said the government would announce compensation for civil servants showing good performance to encourage committed and hardworking officers to improve their efficiency.

He urged the civil servants to keep them abreast with changes taking place and look ahead with improving their skills through constant education and training.

The prime minister said a new commission had been constituted to review pays, pensions and services of government servants which would also look into compensation with performance. -APP
