HYDERABAD, Oct 5: To mark the World Teachers' Day, the Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS) held a seminar on "The role of a teacher in the society" at the Dr Nabi Bux Baloch Hall of the Sindhi Language Authority here on Tuesday.

Speaking as chief guest, District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman said many schools in interior of Sindh were lying closed. He urged teachers of urban areas to serve in schools of interior of Sindh for some period on rotation basis.

DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed advised teachers to impart quality education to students. He observed that teachers were held in high esteem in the society. The EDO, education, Abdul Majeed Hur, HANDS executive coordinator Dr Shaikh Tanvir and regional manager Majeeb Ahmad Rahu, Maqbool Rahu, Shabina Memon, Ahmad Khaskheli, Erum Rizvi, Ghazala Shah, Safia Arbab and others also praised services of teachers.

Commendatory certificates were also given to outstanding teachers. Meanwhile, children of the Horizon Children Academy took out a rally to commemorate the World Teachers' Day.
