KARACHI, Oct 4: A special division bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Justice Shabbir Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Sadiq Leghari on Monday issued bailable warrants for the arrest of DSP Qasim Ghouri (TPO Landhi) and Inspector Tassarud Mumtaz of CIA in a sum of Rs100,000 each.

The bench was hearing a contempt application filed by a number of advocates who maintained that they were manhandled while the respondent officers whisked away Robin Ditta, an accused in the Rimpa Plaza carnage case, from the court premises on October 22, 2002.

A division bench of the SHC had ordered release of Ditta, who was in 'protective custody' of the CIA police. Ditta had been ordered released 'forthwith'. As he came out of the court police caught hold of him, threw him into a van and drove away, according to the petitioners.

The SHC bench on Monday, the DSP and inspector were called absent upon which the bench issued bailable warrants for their arrest. The court also ordered the SDPO (Operation), Saddar, Karachi and in case of non-service, the SDPO should appear before the court on October 18. -APP/PPI
