LONDON, Sept 27: England 'A' cricketer Graham Wagg faces a ban from the sport after testing positive for cocaine. The all-rounder who plays county cricket for Warwickshire pleaded guilty to failing a drugs test on Sept 4 at a disciplinary panel at Lord's on Monday.

Wagg, who apologised to the panel, Warwickshire and the game of cricket for bringing the game and his club into disrepute, will be punished at a later hearing on Oct 18.

The 21-year-old was "deeply remorseful and determined to show his employers and cricket fans that he will accept the punishment meted out to him with humility and good grace," a statement read.

Wagg has been struggling with a back injury that has stopped him playing Championship cricket this year. In 1996 Ed Giddins was suspended for 18 months and sacked by his county Sussex after testing positive for cocaine. -Reuters
