ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has excluded gas companies and the PTCL from collecting sales tax on late payment surcharge accrued due to late payment of utility bills by consumers.

The decision was taken through a sales tax notification issued on Friday. The SNGPL, SSGC and PTCL were currently paying sales tax on billing basis. But they were also collecting sales tax on the late payment surcharge. Now these companies were not required to collect sales tax on late payment surcharge from consumers.
