PFF may get more funds

LAHORE, Sept 23: FIFA, the ruling body of football, said on Thursday that more funds could be released for the Goal Project on the basis of past performance of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).

Goal Project director Mohsin Gilani said under a long-term strategy, a three-year plan, Vision 2007, was being initiated in Pakistan. Under the programme, the sport would be popularized among women for which FIFA had reserved funds.

He said Vision 2007 was sanctioned as a special case to Pakistan, while a national women football league would be introduced soon for the purpose.

FIFA technical development officer Dr Taha Ismaeel said FIFA had launched activities to develop Pakistan's national team for World Cup and 2008 Beijing Olympics.
