12 quit MMA council

PESHAWAR, Sept 21: Twelve members of the district general council of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal resigned here on Monday.

Those who tendered their resignations comprised four members each from three component parties of the MMA - Islami Tehrik, Jamiat-i-Ahl-i-Hadith and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (Noorani).

The acting amir of the district council, Khursheed Akhundzada, said they had resigned in protest against the attitude of the amir of the district general council, Hakeem Abdul Waheed. Akhundzada said that they would remain in the MMA with out being part of the general council.
