ISLAMABAD, Sept 16: Acting President of Pakistan Muslim League-N Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said Gen Pervez Musharraf is not only occupying the army chief office illegally , but his staying as head of the state is also a blatant violation of the Constitution and he must quit both the offices.

In a statement issued from Adiala Jail and released by the party's camp office here on Thursday, the acting PML-N chief said it was immaterial whether Gen Musharraf took off his uniform or retained it as he was not entitled to hold any of the two posts, and the so-called accord with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in this regard had no constitutional or moral value.

Mr Hashmi, who is also the president of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy, said the PML-N never accepted Gen Musharraf as the president because he "usurped" the presidential post through a 'rigged' and 'unconstitutional' referendum after illegally removing the constitutional president of the country.
