PESHAWAR, May 24: The former caretaker prime minister and chief of the National People’s Party, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, who arrived here on Thursday held a meeting with Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao at the People’s House.

The PPP (Sherpao) who supported the presidential referendum stayed away from the National Alliance fold. Jatoi also visited Aftab Sherpao, detained in Peshawar jail.

Sources said, Jatoi was scheduled to meet Awami National Party chief Khan Abdul Wali Khan, but he changed his mind.

He discussed with Sikandar Sherpao the overall political situation in the country. They agreed that the present volatile situation had increased the woes of the people. They underlined the need to evolve national unity in the wake of deployment of Indian forces on the border.

They expressed serious concern over the escalating of tension between Pakistan and India that might push the region into a nuclear war.

They urged the politicians to shun differences and get united against the Indian threats of war. They asked international community to intervene in the matter and save the region from the devastation. “War is no solution to any issue but if the same was  imposed then nation should exercise unity,’’ they added.
