ISLAMABAD: An award-giving ceremony for the Pakistan squash team that successfully defended its World Junior Team title last month, is to be held here on Friday, officials said.

A total of Rs5 million is to be given away to the juniors while Rs60,000 each will also be handed over to the members of the Pakistan senior squad that won the Asian Championship in Kuala Lumpur.

President of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Sadaat had announced an award of Rs2 million for the juniors if they won the championship. That amount was enhanced to Rs5 million by President Gen Pervez Musharraf after the national team had retained the crown.

The Pakistan team that defeated Egypt in the final comprised Yasir Butt, Khalid Atlas and Farhan Mahboob. A cash prize of Rs 1 million was also up for grabs for a player winning the individual title but Yasir Butt missed that after losing to Egypt's Ramy Ashour in the final.
