SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 14: The Anti-Corruption Establishment held on Tuesday Malik Saleem, sub-inspector of Saddar police station, on the charge of receiving Rs5,000 bribe from a widow.

Aneesa Bibi complained that the SI had taken Rs5,000 from her some time ago for arresting the killers of her son Rana Jabbar and now he was again demanding the amount. Malik Saleem is an investigator officer in the murder case.

The complainant lodged an FIR with the anti-corruption police circle. After getting permission of District and Sessions Judge Khan Talib Husain Baloch, the raiding team, including Special Judicial Magistrate Tariq Khan Niazi, arrested the police official. He was later sent to jail after judicial remand.

SHOT DEAD: A villager was shot dead on Tuesday by an alleged proclaimed offender over litigation at Garhi Gahna village. Reports said PO Gulzar alias Gulzari, along with his eight accomplices, kidnapped Dost Muhammad and later shot dead him.

Syedwala police have registered a case on the report of deceased's brother Manzoor. Meanwhile, a woman was shot dead by her husband over suspicion at Chak 6, Tooranwali Dhari. Bara Ghar police have registered a case against Malik Ali on the complaint of deceased's father Sadique. The suspect later courted his arrest.
