PESHAWAR, Sept 10: The Peshawar High Court on Friday adjourned hearing in a pre-arrest bail petition of a former MNA of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jawed Ibraheem Paracha, but ordered that no further adjournment would be allowed in the case.

A single-judge bench of Justice Malik Hamid Saeed fixed Sept 13 for next hearing. The bench observed that the case had already been adjourned thrice.

Advocate Asghar Kundi appeared for Mr Paracha and requested the court to adjourn the case for about two weeks as the petitioner wanted to submit some additional documents in the case.

The court observed that on all the previous occasions the case was adjourned on the request of the petitioner. The bench directed the counsel to submit the additional documents.

Mr Paracha was accused by former federal interior minister, Faisal Saleh Hayat, and federal information minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, of having links with Al Qaeda militants.

The ministers claimed that he had links with the group of terrorists which had planned to hit various important installations. Mr Paracha denied those allegations, saying that he neither had any links with militants or was he aware of their activities.

The applicant has annexed with his application various press clippings carrying the press conferences of Mr Saleh Hayat and Mr Rasheed, in which they had claimed that Mr Paracha was in league with militants. The applicant had not annexed any FIR with his application but he said that on the basis of press reports he might be allowed pre-arrest bail.
