KARACHI, Sept 9: Police on Thursday arrested an activist of a banned militant organization from the Cantonment railway station for his alleged involvement in cases of terrorism.

The suspect led the police to his Burns Road apartment where electrical circuits used to making bombs were found. He was in-charge of the place and had fled Lahore after his mentors had been arrested.

SP Raja Omar Khattab of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) confirmed the arrest of the activist and told Dawn that Irfan alias Khalid alias Sharif, resident of Naval Colony and member of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al Alami, fled Punjab after Kamran Atif was arrested on May 19, in a shootout in Buffer Zone. Police had recovered arms, ammunition and literature about making bombs from Kamran.
