KARACHI, Sept 9: Two policemen died in a road accident in Saddar on Thursday morning. Police said that an unknown speeding minibus crushed two police constables Nazir Masih and Javed Iqbal, belonging to the Clifton police station , at Regal Chowk, when they were heading to the Garden police headquarters to get fuel for their official motorcycle (HM-3738).

The two constables were rushed to the Civil Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. The police said that the driver of the minibus escaped from the spot along with the vehicle.

KILLED: A young man was killed by unknown persons at Burns Road late on Wednesday night. Police said that Imran, 30, was sitting at a eating house at Burns Road, when two persons came on a motorcycle and opened fire at him. The police said that the injured was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim had suffered a bullet wound in his head.

DACOITY: A group of armed men looted several jewellry shops in North Karachi and escaped with jewellry worth over five million rupee on Wednesday night. Police said that around a dozen armed suspects came to Sarafa Bazar, Sir Syed Town in North Karachi, Sector-11.

Within a span of thirty minutes, the robbers deprived several shops of gold ornaments and cash, and escaped without any resistance. The police have lodged an FIR and started investigations.

BOMB HOAX: A hoax bomb call was received at the offices of a private company located adjacent to the Frere Hall. Police said that call was received at the office of the Earphone International at 9.45am.

As the office didn't have the call identification facility, the call could not be traced, a senior police officer said. Following the information, the premises were got evacuated by the Bomb Disposal Squad officials, who after conducting a complete search, cleared the premises.
