LAHORE, Sept 8: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi visited on Wednesday the residence of playwright and intellectual Ashfaque Ahmad to offer condolence.

He expressed his condolences with Ashfaque Ahmad's wife Bano Qudsia and sons Anis Ahmad and Asir Ahmad, terming the death of the writer a national loss.

The chief minister said the late Ashfaque Ahmad was a trend setter who rendered commendable services for the promotion of knowledge and literature. He said the late Ashfaque Ahmad had an impressive personality and provided invaluable guidance and cooperation in the establishment of the Institute of Punjabi Language and Culture.

The chief minister said the late Ashfaque Ahmad always gave a bold and realistic advice to the government on matters referred to him for the purpose. He also offered fateha for the departed soul.

QUL: Qul of playwright and intellectual Ashfaque Ahmed will be held at his residence at 121 C-Block Model Town at 5pm on Thursday. He died here on Tuesday after a protracted illness.
